When I was a teenager my mother bought me my very first digital camera for Christmas. That Christmas was one of the best ones I had ever had. I was so happy to be a proud owner of a digital camera. Okay I know what your thinking, so what does this have to do with what makes you passionate about? Photography silly! Before I was interested in photography I used to be a photo hoarder. That is right, I had a big box full of photos and I still do. I love pictures. They are truly magical to me. They freeze that moment in time that you can hold close to your heart for ever. Pictures are apart of everyone's life.
When I got older I really started to do some research to help teach myself about photography and photo editing. I started out in Gimp you know. It was a free program, so I couldn't complain. I used YouTube video's to help me get where I'am today. It was a great start.
When I was 24 I got my first advanced digital camera. It was Kodak Z981. I loved that camera. I was outside every day in the spring chasing birds, butterfly's and squirrels to take photos. It was a great experience. It was really with that Kodak that I really became more passionate about photography. With that camera I started taking out door photography sessions of friends and family. That's when I was introduced to Photoshop and Lightroom. That's when editing my photos became really fun. My Facebook would blow up with comments and likes on my photos that I would share of the photography work I did for free of friends and family and people started asking me if I would take or edit there photos.
As time went by I decided I wanted to go to college for my passion and things where going well. I was making good grads and never missed a assignment. I was on a roll until everything around me came crashing down. One morning my husband woke up with a not on his shoulder. I was scared to death, but put my fears aside. I didn't want to make it worse then what it could be. After my husband had a run around and then finally managed to see his family Dr. They sent him off to have the not removed and tested along with PET scans. The day we walked into the Dr. Office is the day that changed our life forever. I'm sorry to tell you this Mr. and Mrs. Lolley Mr.Lolley has stage 2 Hodgkin Lymphoma. Me and my husband both went into tears. Then on top of that I learned my Grandmother had dementia disease and my Aunt who was taking care of her called and told me and mother how bad it was getting and that she didn't think my granny was going to know who we was in a few months. So me and my mother also made a trip to Oklahoma from Georgia to spend some time with my grandmother. While in school I fail behind while trying to deal with everything behind me so I dropped out.
I'm praying soon that Ill be able to pick myself back up and keep chasing my dream. There is one other thing that keeps holding me back from my dreams of becoming a pro photographer. To scared of what others would say about me and my work. Will I ever be good enough or as good as the photographer that takes the most beautiful photo and turns it into a work of art?
I'm inspired by some of the most none Photographers like Morgan Burks or Annie from Paint The Moon. There work has really inspired me. There are days that I don't even want to pick up my camera or think about photography, but I think we all get like and when I do that is when I do some soul searching for some inspiration.
I have had some set backs in my life, but I'm going to keep on going on to make my dreams come true. I just need to keep reaching for the stars and try harder and harder and never give up on my self. I have to learn that there is always going to be someone out there better then me and there is going to be someone out there who may not like my work, but there is always going to be someone out there to inspire me to keep learning and keep getting better.
