How To Create a Watercolor & Gold Background Texture In Photoshop

1. Open Photoshop. For Large background texture start around 2000px x 2000px or 3000px x 300px with resolution of 300. For a small background texture start around 1000px x 1000px or 800px x 800px with resolution of 72 or higher.
2.Now we need to open the brush tool presets and install the NKS5 brush tool presets. Go to Windows-Tool Presets. Load Tool Presets-locate the NKS5 brush tool presets and load them. Now you should be able to see the NKS5 brush tool presets in your tool presets panel.
7. Now create a new blank layer and rename it to watercolor.
8. Choose a color you would like your watercolor backgorund to be and select the NKS5_Watercolor brush tool preset. Now brush over your watercolor layer.
9. Create a new blank layer and rename it Hills. Select a new color and on your hills layer with the NKS5_Watercolor brush tool preset still selected start from the bottom of your canvas working your way up making a up down wave motion at the top to make it look like hills.
10. (YOU CAN SKIP THIS STEP IF YOU LIKE.) Create a new layer. Rename this layer texture. Choose the foreground black. Choose the NKS5_Texture_Fibers brush preset tool and stamp on your canvas until your happy with your results.
11. Create a new layer. Make sure its at the top of your layers list. Rename this layer PowderCoat. Choose the NKS5_Texture_PowderCoat brush tool preset. With this layer selected brush on the canvas where you would like the gold to show. To make it darker you can brush over your same path a few times or bring up the brush opacity and flow.
12. Go to File-Place and locate your gold texture and place it on top of your canvas. You may need to resize your gold texture.
13. On your gold layer right click and choose create clipping mask. If you want to add more gold to you background just click back on PowderCoat layer with your NKS5_Texture_PowderCoat still selected and brush more where you want more gold. Once you are done just right click on the background layer- flatten image and save.
